honduras yay!
okay people, here's the situation:
i am going to honduras for six weeks and i am totally stoked! i'm sure most of you who are reading this know how it's all goin down, but just in case, here's a recap of what my life will look like in five days...
i'll be working at an orphanage. while i'm there, i will be 1. working with the most precious spanish speaking kids you have ever seen and 2. helping out the missionaries who run the orphanage. i really have no idea what to expect! all i know is that God is good and that i am so excited to have this opportunity! it's pretty sweet!
packing for six weeks, however, is not such a sweet deal. but it's all good. i just have to make sure that it actually gets done on time and that i don't procrastinate.
everything really is falling into place. i don't need any more shots, i don't have to take malaria medicine (which is such a blessing because it makes me very sick..), i have most of the money i need, the interns i'll be working with seem super amazing, and well...i'm just generally stoked about the whole ordeal and praising Jesus for taking care of everything. God closed a lot of doors before He opened this one, and that just makes me all the more excited to see what lies ahead....
earlier today, i talked to a man who has been to the orphanage several times - one of the things we discussed was the type of clothing that will be appropriate. he said that basically the people in Honduras dress in clothes that are equivalent to what Americans wore in the 1940s and 50s. i thought that was so funny! so, i'll be wearing a lot of capris - or 'pedal pushers' if you will - and skirts while i'm down there. the man said that people will kind of expect me to look nice and that running around town in shorts could actually offend somebody! that tickles me. i just wasn't expecting it i suppose...
and that's about all i've got for now.
romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
